Fitter & Turner – with hydrostatic testing

Job Description:

We are seeking a Trade Qualified Fitter & Turner with a minimum of three years of practical experience in a similar role, preferably within the mining or mining support engineering industry. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience with pumps, valves, and gearboxes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct hydrostatic testing under supervision, following documented procedures accredited by NATA.
• Perform fitting and turning operations on a variety of heavy engineering equipment, including valves, pumps, rolling stock, gearboxes, etc.
• Identify and detail defects detected during the strip down and rebuild of equipment.
• Carry out final inspections and tests as per client specifications, including balance tests, hydrostatic tests, leak tests, etc.
• Compile detailed inspection reports.
• Manage all tooling in the section, including undertaking and recording calibrations.
• Present ideas for improvements to workshop processes to supervisors.
• Report any issues affecting machinery, equipment, and other non-conformances to the Supervisor/Leading Hand.
• Supervise apprentices assigned to them, providing technical support throughout the organisation.
• Participate in the continual improvement of the Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management System by providing feedback.
• Maintain client confidentiality in all matters associated with the laboratory.
• Ensure all Hydro Testing activities are undertaken in accordance with documented policies and procedures.
• Report and encourage others to report any opportunities for improvement, actual or potential non-conformances.
• Maintain accurate hard copy records of all tests conducted.

Qualifications:

• Trade Qualified Fitter & Turner.
• Minimum three years practical experience post trade in a similar role – preferably within mining/mining support engineering.
• Extensive experience with pumps, valves, and gearboxes.
• Strong commitment to safety and environmental practices.
